James,
It saddens me to see the reply you posted here.
If you truly believe what you have said, then you are saying that Jesus lied (or didn't know what He was saying ) when He said He came not to destroy (do away with or abolish), but to fulfill the law, Mat.5:17.
Keeping the law of God will not save us, because if we 'offend in one part', we are guilty of 'all'.
The apostle James had this to say about it, But whoso looketh into the perfect
law of liberty
, and continueth [therein],
he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work,
this man shall be blessed in his deed. [chpt.1 v. 25]
We will be judged by this law, so, how can you say that it should be abolished?
These ten precepts govern our relationship to God [ first four] and our relationship to each other [last six]
Technically, you could say that the 5th also governs our relationship to our heavenly Father, we are to 'honor your father and mother', we are also supposed to honor our Heavenly father.
Jesus, our prime example, set the tone: John 15:10 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love.
Hi Jerry I just edited this to fix the red font code for you.
