My son saw the first robin yesterday, just in time for a big snow storm. But we have been having some milder weather lately, in between the winter weather. I haven't seen any flowers coming up yet though. How about the rest of you? Any signs of spring's return in your neck of the woods? ------------------ The Lord is the strength of my life and my portion forever.

I saw some robins this week when I was out walking. The tulips and daffodils are poking up through the ground. The air finally has the feel of spring in it rather than winter. I can hardly wait. Oh yes, I've been hearing a lot more birds singing lately--a good sign spring is coming. ------------------ For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth. _________________________ Linda

This morning we're having a late-winter snowstorm. Weather like this is almost unheard of in Chatham. A week ago last year the temperature went up to 76 degrees! Now it feels more like what I experienced in the Northern Prairies. What's strange is that I haven't seen any robins yet! Last week, though, I saw a line of swans flying towards Lake Erie. I'm not sure of their migrating patterns, but I'm sure that increased activity on the "flyway" is a good sign that spring's almost here. Oh yes, I've also seen several cardinals lately. ------------------ Be glad for all God is planning for you. Be patient in trouble, and always be prayerful. Rom. 12:12 NLT

We've had robins for almost three weeks. But the weather has been so bizarre, I don't know where they go in the bad times. We normally have blooming trees and flowers by now, but with the severe drought conditions we are having even the evergreens are dying. It's really sad to see because I live in a rain forest. This should never happen in this area. We are hoping that even if we don't like it, we have a very rainy summer. If we don't get it, severe consequences are to follow. Washington has now been declared a state of emergency for both drought and earthquake relief. Amazing. I've never seen it like this. And we are still having small, yet severe, earthquakes! Wendy

Yesterday the weather was beautiful: sunny and 50 degrees F when I went out to walk. I didn't wear a hat or gloves, although I discovered that the wind was still pretty nippy, so I was glad that my jacket had a hood and pockets! The hyacinths and tulips by my front door are just beginning to come up, and around by the back, the irises have been up for a few days. Other than that, I have not seen any signs of Spring plant growth. I didn't even find any volunteer pansies blooming in my garden. I guess I was too diligent in picking off the dead blossoms last year! But early this morning I awoke to the sound of the the mourning doves' call - another sign of Spring. And I have been seeing the birds collecting materials for nests, and performing their courtship rituals. ------------------ The Lord is the strength of my life and my portion forever.

The high today here, on the first day of spring, was about 70 degrees! It felt more like late spring. The high in Phoenix, Arizona got up to 90 degrees today!

Our nice spring weather has been interrupted by winter's last stand. We've had snow and cold since Saturday night. But this is typical of Michigan for this time of year, and it won't last long. I'd rather be here than Phoenix, anyway. 90 is too hot, even for summer! I do have a budding crocus next to the front door, though. ------------------ The Lord is the strength of my life and my portion forever.[This message has been edited by Cathy Sears (edited March 26, 2001).]

All I can say is that we still have lots of snow on the ground. __________________________ In His Love, Mercy & Grace Daryl

Daryl, If it makes you feel any better. We still have snow on the ground here. Just had blizzard conditions on Sunday. I wish spring would come. Frog

To make matters worse, we just had another 20 to 30 cm of snow land on top of what we still have on the ground. I wonder when we are going to really see the signs of Spring beyond the time being moved ahead by one hour over night. __________________________ In His Love, Mercy & Grace Daryl
