The following I found while doing some reading. It speaks volumes.

Some will hold them up to ridicule, working against the light that God has been giving for years, and some who are weak in the faith will thus be led astray. {1SM 42.1}

But others will be greatly helped by the messages. Though not personally addressed, they will be corrected, and will be led to shun the evils specified.... The Spirit of the Lord will be in the instruction, and doubts existing in many minds will be swept away. The testimonies themselves will be the key that will explain the messages given, as scripture is explained by scripture. Many will read with eagerness the messages reproving wrong, that they may learn what they may do to be saved. . . . Light will dawn upon the understanding, and the Spirit will make an impression on minds, as Bible truth is clearly and simply presented in the messages that since 1846 God has been sending His people. These messages are to find their place in hearts, and transformations will take place.-- Letter 73, 1903. {1SM 42.2}

Thanks Will for sharing this with us. When I read about "ridicule" it reminded me of the quote Mrs. White says in R&H articles that we would rather face the "rack" than face ridicule by fellow believers--that is how much human beings do not like to be ridiculed!!!

But we are told these "like believers" will resort to many tactics that satan uses and has inspired them to use against us.

Remember it begins with envy which leads to jealousy. Then if it isn't stopped, it leads down the primrose path to hatred which deepens into murder! The world along with the "tares" in the church will unite to put us to death.

You're welcome Debbie. It is sad to say the least that there is really hatred towards us because of what we believe, and there are tares growing with the wheat, but also their is enmity between the devil and the womans seed.
I firmly believe that EllenWhite was inspired by God to write things as she did. I know that their are many statements that bring questions to peoples minds as found in Early Writings, the shut door, and all sorts of things.
I believe that as God inspires men and women to write that they write as they understand it, not by dictation.
She always had counsel that points to Christ, many examples where she goes at length to let people knownot to use her as Scripture, but to use the Holy Scriptures. Its the contorted view of those who are against us that say we follow every little thing Ellen White says and disregard the Bible. This is casting a shadow of doubt on us to those who don't know, and the spirit behind these attacks are satanic. God will allow those to believe a lie, so go figure that one out.

As anyone who's actually spent time studying the SOP knows, it's not possible to read Ellen White and disregard the Bible! She elevated and magnified Scripture in every conceivable way.
