Peter, thank you for the awesome quotes and insights. Do you know of other forms it is manifesting nowadays? What about the idea that everything we think, say, and do (while abiding in Jesus and partaking of the divine nature) is stained with sin and selfishness? Have you heard of this idea? Today many Christians teach that we are no longer under the Law but under grace, teaching people it is ok to sin. Also within Adventism I have heard people say that we will sin until Jesus comes again teaching people to feel comfortable when they sin. When through Christ we can have the victory over sin.
Romans 6:16 (16) Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?

This is not the point, Peter. The point is victory over sin versus claiming to be free from sin, on the basis of the passage "Everyone who abides in Him does not sin."

P: Today many Christians teach that we are no longer under the Law but under grace, teaching people it is ok to sin. Also within Adventism I have heard people say that we will sin until Jesus comes again teaching people to feel comfortable when they sin. When through Christ we can have the victory over sin. Interesting. I haven't met any Christians who say it is okay to sin because we are under grace. But I've heard they're out there. Too bad. I know of SDAs who believe everything we think, say, and do while abiding in Jesus and partaking of the divine nature is stained with sin and selfishness and is unacceptable to God. They quote 1SM 344 to prove it. The religious services, the prayers, the praise, the penitent confession of sin ascend from true believers as incense to the heavenly sanctuary, but passing through the corrupt channels of humanity, they are so defiled that unless purified by blood, they can never be of value with God. They ascend not in spotless purity, and unless the Intercessor, who is at God's right hand, presents and purifies all by His righteousness, it is not acceptable to God. All incense from earthly tabernacles must be moist with the cleansing drops of the blood of Christ. He holds before the Father the censer of His own merits, in which there is no taint of earthly corruption. He gathers into this censer the prayers, the praise, and the confessions of His people, and with these He puts His own spotless righteousness. Then, perfumed with the merits of Christ's propitiation, the incense comes up before God wholly and entirely acceptable. Then gracious answers are returned. {1SM 344.2} Have you ever heard of Jesus making sin and selfishness acceptable to God?
