At approximately 12:30 p.m. today the campus of Southern Adventist University in Collegedale, Tenn. was placed on a lockdown because of a credible threat made against the university. Students and staff were advised to lock their doors and stay away from the windows. The elementary and academy schools and the Adventist Book Center near the university were locked down as well. Law enforcement responded to the scene and immediately started searching the campus. Around 2:20 p.m. the lockdown was lifted and a suspect was being detained. No students or staff were injured during the incident.

The officers and employees of the North American Division met in a special season of prayer around 1:30 p.m. in a conference room at the General Conference headquarters, and gathered in groups of two or three and prayed for those affected including the first responders.
