It's interesting how some of the Bible's truths get buried by modern "culture" or "political correctness." It is estimated that at least 10-20% of women will get endometriosis at some point in their lives, and the estimates go as high as over 50%. Endometriosis occurs when the blood-making lining of the uterus escapes into the abdominal cavity and begins functioning there. During sexual activity, contractions occur in the uterus and the fallopian tubes, designed to draw in the sperm toward the egg. If this occurs during menstruation when the uterus is shedding its lining, the lining may be drawn up as well. As this is not a "politically correct" concept, for it would require just what God outlined in Leviticus--total abstention from sexual activity during menstruation, it seems none of the studies even look at this aspect. But some do suspect this, and God never gives a command without a reason.
The health laws are still valid today. Ignore them at your own risk.
