I completely agree with you on this subject, but Mrs White said it began in 1844, so it must be a repeat of that message that came at the beginning of the Advent movement. This is something to study because I believe I have been led to discover something very important here. Here is the proof for it beginning in 1844.
"Our hopes now centered on the coming of the Lord in 1844. This was also the time for the message of the second angel, who, flying through the midst of heaven, cried, “Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city.” Revelation 14:8. That message was first proclaimed by the servants of God in the summer of 1844. As a result, many left the fallen churches. In connection with this message the “
midnight cry” was given: “Behold, the Bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet Him.” In every part of the land light was given concerning this message, and the cry aroused thousands. It went from city to city, from village to village, and into the remote country regions. It reached the learned and talented, as well as the obscure and humble. {CET 50.4}
This was the happiest year of my life. My heart was full of glad expectation; but I felt great pity and anxiety for those who were in discouragement and had no hope in Jesus. We united, as a people, in earnest prayer for a true experience and the unmistakable evidence of our acceptance with God." {CET 51.1}
Now here is what is special to what my God has showed me.
Recorded in Early Writings, the VERY FIRST VISION Mrs White received was about a path high and lifted up, like a bridge. Recorded here.
"While I was praying at the family altar, the Holy Ghost fell upon me, and I seemed to be rising higher and higher, far above the dark world. I turned to look for the Advent people in the world, but could not find them, when a voice said to me, “Look again, and look a little higher.” At this I raised my eyes, and saw
a straight and narrow path, cast up high above the world. On this path the Advent people were traveling to the
city, which was at the farther end of the path. They had a bright light set up behind them at the beginning of the path, which an angel told me was the
midnight cry. This light shone all along the path and gave light for their feet so that they might not stumble. If they kept their eyes fixed on Jesus, who was just before them, leading them to the city, they were safe. But soon some grew weary, and said the city was a great way off, and they expected to have entered it before. Then Jesus would encourage them by raising His glorious right arm, and from His arm came a light which waved over the Advent band, and they shouted, “Alleluia!” Others rashly denied the light behind them and said that it was not God that had led them out so far. The light behind them went out, leaving their feet in perfect darkness, and they stumbled and lost sight of the mark and of Jesus, and fell off the path down into the dark and wicked world below. Soon we heard the voice of God like many waters, which gave us the day and hour of Jesus’ coming. The living saints,
144,000 in number, knew and understood the voice, while the wicked thought it was thunder and an earthquake. When God spoke the time, He poured upon us the Holy Ghost, and our faces began to light up and shine with the glory of God, as Moses’ did when he came down from Mount Sinai. {EW 14.1}
The 144,000 were all sealed and perfectly united. On their foreheads was written, God, New Jerusalem, and a glorious star containing Jesus’ new name. At our happy, holy state the wicked were enraged, and would rush violently up to lay hands on us to thrust us into prison, when we would stretch forth the hand in the name of the Lord, and they would fall helpless to the ground. Then it was that the synagogue of Satan knew that God had loved us who could wash one another’s feet and salute the brethren with a holy kiss, and they worshiped at our feet. {EW 15.1}
Soon our eyes were drawn to the east, for a small black cloud had appeared, about half as large as a man’s hand, which we all knew was the sign of the Son of man."
OK, so get the picture. I discovered that there was a bridge called "the Bridge of the Red Heifer" that spanned the Kidron Valley from the top of Mount Olives to the Eastern Gate of Jerusalem. I believe this vision is connected to that image!
The light that is at the beginning of the path is the Miphkad Altar, where the Red Heifer was sacrificed and lit on fire (symbolic of the hell Jesus endured in Gethsemane) just up the hill from where Jesus sweat blood. Jesus also ascended to heaven there. The word Miphkad is translated "place of numbering"! This is where the 144,000 get on the path heading to heavenly Jerusalem. I believe my discovery about the Red Heifer is part of this message.
See the light that shines all along the path?
