Does that mean that it was worse than the Lisbon Earthquake?

It is interesting to note, that the Lisbon Earthquake happened at the beginning of the "time of the end" (e.g. the end of 1,260 year prophesy), I'm wondering if the Asian quake is a sign that we are very near to the end of the "time of end"?

Maybe? Wasn't it one of the signs that the earth's weather would become quite volitile and nautral disasters would occur more? I'd think we'd be in for many similar natural disasters as this one.

Compared to other natural disaster this one was not that great however it does rank as one of the worst earthquakes. Floods, famines and epidemics have killed many more.

Daryl asked, quote: Does that mean that it was worse than the Lisbon Earthquake?
Well, the MSNBC article was talking about the entire year of 2004, not just one quake. But if you're asking if the tsunami quake was worse than the Lisbon quake, it appears so. According to the Wikipedia article on the Lisbon quake, it killed "well over 100,000 people," and "geologists today estimate that the Lisbon earthquake approached magnitude 9 on the Richter scale."
By contrast, the Asian tsunamis have killed well over 285,000 at last count (article), and the earthquake that caused the tsunamis is "now thought to have measured a colossal 9.3 on the Richter scale."

We are so blessed to live in a time when all things we have looked for are coming together, and those news articles really show where things are going...Another earthquake reported in Iran today. The earth surely grows old like a garment.

I don't know that I would imply that it's a blessing when there's an earthquake in Iran.

Blessings come in many different forms. Remember Jesus said that a man's blindness was a blessing. It allowed him to show a miracle. Perhaps the issue itself is not the blessing but what results because of it. In this case, we are coming ever closer to coming home. [ March 01, 2005, 04:52 PM: Message edited by: Dave Hoover ]
