Doesn't nature, God's 2nd Book, give evidence to the Bible record on Creation, the Flood, and particularly the fact that this planet contains the right atmosphere, is the correct distance from the sun, etc.???

I am intrigued that you would call nature God's second book. Which is God's first book? Certainly not the Bible for thousands of years passed after the creation of nature before the Bible was compiled by man.

I talked to my pastor. He told me that this question involves what is called "General Revelation" and "Special Revelation".
There is a general revelation of God that is found in the world around us. While Nature can testify in a general way as to God, it can nto go beyond that. We need the special revelation as found in the Bible, and the life of Jesus. This gives us information about God that we can never find in nature.

It is easy to show that your pastor has not considered this thoroughly. Consider what the universe was like before sin entered. They had no Bible and Christ's life was not necessary, yet they would have a clearer picture of God than we can. We often forget that the universe did not begin after the fall of man.

Darius,
What you said may be true, however, we need to take into consideration of what happened to our face-to-face communication with God and even to nature after the Fall. For example, the thorns and the thistles.

Darius:
Special Revelation is not limited to the Bible and the life of Christ. Special Revelation includes the face-to-face communication that Adam and Eve had with God prior to sin. For one who believes that there are other worlds on which inteligent life exists, I make the assumption that they also have the Special Revelation of face-to-face commuknication directly with God.
This face-to-face communication reveals knowledge about God that General Revelation and the book of nature can not reveal, and is important for salvation.

Certainly the nature of our communication with God was altered, but we need to avoid the implied teaching that God is only to be understood in a religious context. The truth is that before sin there was no need for religion. Hey, Adam never had a "worship" experience until he fell into sin.

Darius,
What do you base the above assumption on?
If the unfallen angels worshipped God in heaven, not to mention the unfallen worlds, then I believe Adam & Eve also worshipped God prior to the sin problem.

There is a reason for the quotation marks. Everyday was spent under the complete authority of YHWH. The closest we get were the "fireside chats" YHWH had with Adam in the cool of the day.
