From Monday's lesson:

"We might compare it [Christ's remaining immaculate] to going through thirty-three years with your computer, writing articles, doing homework, answering letters, and never making a single mistake, never needing to use the delete key or the undo feature; or like going through a course in algebra or physics, and getting every problem right; or playing the piano for thirty-three years without ever hitting a wrong note."

Isn't this amazing? and wonderful?

Well, if Jesus never made a mistake, then should we also no longer make mistakes?

We are told that Jesus never sinned. But when we say that Jesus never made a mistake, we imply things such as that he never cut a piece of wood too long or to short in the carpenter shop nor did he ever fry a fish so it burnt or spelled a word wrong when he was writing.

A) Does such implications add anything to our view of who Jesus was/is?

B) Do they add anything to what it means to be His diciple?

Galatians 2
21 I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.

It is so hazardous to take here a little and there a little. If you put the right little's together you can make the bible teach anything you wish. //Graham Maxwell

Take that to the fundamentalist end and you will see that soon enough someone will declare that you are not saved next time you let a typo get through one of your posts.

This should be our endeavor, but not our burden, since His perfect life covers our inadequacy. And it is exactly this that is wonderful.

Who is saying Jesus never made a mistake? He never tripped, for example?

Those who wait for the Bridegroom's coming are to say to the people, "Behold your God." The last rays of merciful light, the last message of mercy to be given to the world, is a revelation of His character of love.

Even if Jesus never tripped or made a mistake it doesn't prove moral perfection is dependent upon us never making mistakes. Nor does it prove we can never reach moral perfection in this lifetime since we will never reach the place where we no longer make mistakes. Making mistakes is not a sin; yes, it is the result of sinfulness, but sinfulness is not sinning.

I think it has nothing to do with how often you hit your thumb while puting nails in some piece of carpentry but how you react to hitting your thumb may tell a bit about how far you have come in your joureny. I say 'may' because ultimately its not a question about hammer skills or pain management but about knowing God and pursuing Him.
